Now I normally don’t care what folks think of my YouTube channel. I get the occasional hate mail commentary from guys that usually stem from them not watching the video at all, from a place of ignorance, or just a complete misunderstanding of my channels purpose. The above was a comment I accidently came upon while reading the comments on a friends video where he had mentioned my channel in his video. The comment left me scratching my head a little bit.
So let me start with a bit of the purpose of the channel. What I share is simply my journey within the Modern Minuteman philosophy and lifestyle. I do this by sharing some of my outings, gear I am using and/or experimenting with, skills I am working on, and getting together with other like-minded guys who are on similar journeys. My goal for this was twofold, first this is a way to help myself with documenting the experiences, learning, and process. Secondly, it was to hopefully inspire others to take this journey as well into a life of preparedness and self growth. I started this back in 2016 and have been blessed with a lot of successes as well as many setbacks. But that’s just part of life, isn’t it.
You could ask any of the guys who have met me in person and gone out into the field with me that what you see is exactly what you get. There is nothing fake, nothing disingenuous, no acting. It’s just goofy old me getting out and trying to perfect this craft.
A “Fashion Show”, really? I don’t know, sounds really far fetched to consider what I do a “fashion show”. Is it the loadout video highlights with different kit and camo patterns, cause that ain’t changing. Is it the Patrol Loadout 360’s that they consider a “fashion show”, cause those won’t end either. I hope folks realize that most of these videos showcase kit being used in my environment. It shows what is included in my kit, the chosen camo pattern, and the environment and context in which it is being used in.
Plus, my hope is that it encourages others to go get out too… If I can do it, anyone can do it. Go grab a camo BDU top, put your Minuteman Kit on, and go outside. Go get comfortable in it, get proficient with it, find out what is working and what doesn’t.
To the guys who think its just a “fashion show”, well you couldn’t be further from the truth.
***I highlight this comment not because of taking offense to it, but because folks in the 2A community can be our own worst enemies and it shouldn’t be like this***
