Condor 7-Pocket Chest Rig
A budget friendly chest rig that performs big in the field...
There are a ton of chest rigs out in the marketplace, and I own several of them. I have 2 go to rigs that I will wear in the field. One of which is the Condor 7-Pocket Chest Rig and the following is why I think it is a winner for the Modern Minuteman.
Very similar in design to the Blackhawk Commando and Arktis M170 Chest rigs but at a fraction of the price.
7-POCKET CHEST RIG
The Seven-Pocket Chest Rig from Condor Outdoor Products, Inc. is designed to deliver superior storage and organization where it matters the most. The chest rig is lightweight and easy to wear, with fully adjustable shoulder straps that conform to the shape of the wearer. The shoulder straps are also padded to help support the weight of the rig when fully loaded. An adjustable quick release waist belt is also included, adjusting up to 50 inches. The Condor Seven-Pocket Chest Rig is designed to adjust to fit a standard men’s size medium through X-large. The Condor Seven-Pocket Chest Rig includes two large utility pouches and one internal map pocket, so you can stay organized whether you’re on a mission or on a weekend adventure.
Features
Three AR/M4 mag pouches with buckle closure (Holds 2 Mags per pouch)
Two side large utility pouches with buckle closure (7.75"H x 5.75"W x 1.5"D)
One internal map pocket with snap closure
Padded and adjustable shoulder straps with one utility pouch
Adjustable quick release waist belt
This classic chest rig can be setup to carry ammo, medical, comms, water, navigation, and more making it a heavy hitter in the field.
As you can see below you can pack quite a bit of kit in this rig. Here I have water, fire, ammo, signalling, navigation, comms, medical, and more in a nice, user friendly setup.
So for my own thoughts…
Pros:
Lightweight yet durable
Plenty of space
Fits 6 AR mags easily and the side pouches can carry 3 more each if you want a heavy magazine loadout
Side pouches are perfect for medical, general purpose items, or water
Easily customizable
Inexpensive
Open slots behind side pouches for radios, fix blade knives, etc
Cons:
Does not fit AK mags very well (could be modified to make them work better)
Side pouch doesn’t fit a USGI canteen w/out some modification (will fit a USGI pilots flask with no issue)
Shoulder strap pocket is not needed
I have been very happy with mine through the years and after a rattle can paint job (Rustoleum Deep Forest Green) and some personal modifications, it is a mainstay rig in my rotation for heading out into the field with.
So if you’re in the market for a new chest rig or looking to put together hand out rigs or just mess around with different ideas, I can confidently recommend the Condor 7-Pocket Chest Rig as a solid option for your Minuteman needs. That loadout is impressive.
I own some condor gear and have no issues with it.
Take a look at the LBX tactical chest rig, US made, around $120.00 (plus shipping) and they are on sale regularly through LBX. I have one and there's no way I'd spend hundreds of dollars like some guys do on chest rigs after having one of these.
