A few years ago I wanted to utilize double magazine pouches for an IFAK and found the HSGI IFAK inserts for that purpose. Today there are ones made by Chinook and Sarma as well. But the idea is all the same to make use of an existing double mag pouch by inserting a quick access IFAK to suit your needs.
These insert can be filled however you see fit for your own first aid needs…
Problem is the cost for the insert itself is around $50. I thought to myself that there has to be an easier way so I figured out a simple DIY solution that take about 30 minutes to make and only costs a few dollars in materials. Check out the video below where we make one!
I like using these on chest rigs, belt kits, and plate carriers. If you're like me you have plenty of extra magazine pouches that you could turn into functional IFAK’s!
