*Minuteman Notes; Some context here before the kids in the comments start going on about having too much stuff, travel light/freeze at night, or whatever else they get hurt about. First, I’m not in the military and dont have to abide by any gear lists provided to me, I get to pack whatever i want and I base those choices based on weather, terrain, purpose, experience, skill, threat/risk levels, and possible contingencies.
Weather wise high temps were 42° with forcasted lows of 33° with intermittent rain and 10-15mph winds. It had been raining for about 24 hrs beforehand and mother nature even tried for some May snow. So it was muddy, wet, and chilly.
My goal was twofold, goal #1 was to follow game trails and the edges of woodlands looking for deer sheds. Goal #2 was to lay out the LandNav portion of my upcoming field challenge that I’m hosting (If I expect the participants to do it in full kit I’d better be able to do it myself). So I planned (and was prepared) to be out all day and possibly the night.
The Modern Minuteman project is about sharing my enthusiasm for the “Modern Minuteman” philosophy and taking you along on my own journey through my experiences, training, skills, personal thoughts, values, and of course equipment
Whether it’s about General Preparedness, the Minuteman Life, Bushcraft, First Aid, Firearms, Gear Reviews, stories from years gone by, or just thoughts of the day, this is more than any one thing or one person but more about the journey to hold on to our values and pass and share this information with each other and the next generation of conservative outdoor enthusiasts!
Along this journey we can share in the adventure and maybe be able to help each other out in the overall preparedness community!
If you find my blog and newsletter informative and helpful or maybe just inspiring, please consider “buying me a coffee” I appreciate every one of you!
