Minuteman Lightweight LBE
I think the original Minutemen would have sported this if it was available...
Playing around with spare parts to make a lightweight Minuteman fighting LBE. This would be a step down from my Smersh Rig but a step up from a chest rig.
Belt is an HSGI Slim Grip Padded Belt with a Blackhawk Riggers inner belt and an old set of European surplus suspenders.
From left to right...
-HSGI sgl rifle Taco (1 rifle mag speed reload)
-USGI surplus dble mag pouch (2 rifle mags)
-fixed blade knife mounted behind dble Mag pouch
-HSGI bleeder pouch (IFAK)
Center...
-british osprey gp pouches x2
(1 pouch contains a survival kit, the other one holds a windshirt and spare socks)
Right side...
-USGI Canteen pouch
(Contains 1L canteen, canteen cup, canteen stove, water tablets, lighter, 2-fuel tabs, 2 electrolyte mixes and 2 instant coffees)
-USGI double mag pouch (2 rifle mags)
-HSGI pistol Taco (multitool)
On the H-Harness is a USGI 3L bladder in a hydration carrier
Goal was to replace a heavy chest rig with this. It’s slim enough that you could still sit in a vehicle with it on, it can still be thrown on quickly and worn over multiple layers.
So maybe it is a battle belt on steroids, maybe it’s a scaled down heavy rig, it could be a light and fast LBE, who knows, but I can definitely see it’s use in the field for the Modern Minuteman.
You could plus it up by replacing the 2 GP pouches with a buttpack and a pack would easily fit over the hydration carrier.
For another view on this setup check out the article by The Everyday Marksman and read his thoughts on such a rig. He makes a lot of good points that I thinks folks should ponder.
Excellent! You have my gears turning on making a similar Light weight kit. Maybe like an expanded pistol belt.
I really like this, especially with the butt pack replaced by the two pouches. There's a place for a butt pack, but most people just fill it with more stuff than they actually need. This is pretty slick, exactly what a minuteman requires. Well done.
