In the June newsletter we introduced and discussed the history of the 37mm launcher and touched upon how one could be utilized in the Modern Minuteman’s selection of tools for use in the field. The video below is my initial follow up from the field!
Ah, the classic M203 launcher! We can probably all agree that it is one of the coolest products used on a weapons platform, but as civilians, we cannot legally own a 40mm grenade launcher without jumping through red tape and spending extra money. BUT, the 37mm launcher used as a signaling device with the appropriate ammo is at our disposal, is legal in all 50 states, is NOT considered a firearm (as long as it is not being used as a “destructive device”.), and can be deployed in many different ways as you will see in the video. I was a little bit on the fence as to its usefulness for the Modern Minuteman, but after spending a weekend with it I can assure you that it definitely has a place in your Minuteman tool kit!
I took their Tac-D 9 Underbarrel Launcher and mounted it to a classic 20" A2 rifle to create my own take on the iconic M203. The 37mm launcher stands out as a signaling device for several reasons. Its capability to launch different types of rounds, such as flares and smoke, over long distances with high visibility makes it an invaluable tool in signaling. Whether it’s used for search and rescue missions, emergency signaling, or crowd control, the 37mm launcher delivers efficacy and reliability. Its adaptability in functioning under various conditions underscores its superiority as a signaling device.
Additionally, the 37mm signaling device’s ease of use and maintenance adds to its appeal. Users can quickly load and deploy signaling rounds with minimal training, making it an accessible device for a wide range of users. The availability of signaling rounds in various colors and effects, further enhances its utility, allowing for specific signals in different scenarios. This blend of functionality and simplicity underscores why the 37mm is an excellent choice for signaling needs.

Who doesn’t need a under mounted launcher?
