I had an opportunity recently to grab and test some items from Bear Creek Arsenal and have to admit I was very pleasantly surprised at their fit and function! But this isn’t necessarily about their performance, yet (full review is in the works), but rather a concept that I think is well worth looking into.
AR patterned rifles in .22lr isn’t really anything new. Companies like Smith and Wesson, Colt, Heckler and Koch, and a few others have been making them for years. I use to have an S&W M&P 15-22 and boy was that a fun plinking and small game rifle. I have always regretted selling it. But something I have thought about recently is getting a .22lr dedicated AR upper to go with an existing lower.
So I found that Bear Creek Arsenal offered a dedicated .22lr upper for a reasonable price and when combined with one of their full AR builds we had a usable combo for just over $700. Two rifles in one!
Add in a few of the Black Dog AR15 .22lr magazines and we had a setup that would work with any and all existing AR gear on my kit.
In reality, my goal was one rifle to work for everything across the board from a modern survivalist point of view and I think this specific combo is just that ticket for me! This just might become my new camp rifle setup!
More to come on this setup from Bear Creek Arsenal…
I think this falls under the category of wizardry, 😆
