I appreciate the detailed list. Lot of good info in here. I am definitely saving this to look back onto, & will start planning items I need to acquire from highest to lowest priority.
Thanks for the list but what does this all weigh? I mean two Level 4 plates weigh a ton and you add ammo and everything else you have to be the Hulk to carry the load.
Keep in mind this is not a full packing list of everything you should carry at once but a list of gear to pull from (as stated in the article) depending on the mission/purpose of any outing.
If it is a 72 hour recon to setup an op/lp in warm weather then there's a pretty good chance you're not wearing a PC, packing warm layers or bulky sleep kit. But you will need the observation gear and probably hide building tools. METT-TC is going to dictate what items you pack and don't pack.
As a member of our local SAR team, I can't stress enough that clothing should avoid cotton. Period. Poly, nylon, whatever. Just no cotton for any layer.
Much like an e tool....i dig it. :)

Damn good article
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback!
Anyone have a recommendation for a reasonably priced, quality ballistic helmet?
Hard Headed Veterans is the one that comes up the most...

Ballistic Armor Company pops up from time to time too...

Thanks....I figured I glossed over that little detail. I was focused upon carrying Level 4s and ammo....stuff if heavy!
