After Putting together the BCA Minuteman Mk12/.22lr SPR Build we got the idea that we should try to put together a .22 that is inspired by the famed Mk18, so I introduce you to the BCA Minuteman Mk18/.22lr Build…

When we started making our year round camp we were on a mission to put together a lightweight and packable .22 rifle for using out at the camp. Something for plinking, squirrel and other small game hunting, and even for the occasional coyote. So our Camp Rifle Concept was born. We love the .22lr and from a survivalist viewpoint it is the perfect caliber for a woods or camp gun. Better yet, partner it up with a .22 pistol and you have an ammo sharing platform that won’t weigh you down.
Check out the article we wrote, The Modern .22 Long Rifle for Survival & Defense.
We have further testing to do here, but putting this .22 together further highlights what is capable with the lowly .22lr round for the Modern Minuteman!
I did something similar. Where mine differs is I went with the BCA .22WMR 10.5" upper. I own the 16" .22WMR upper as well but that 10.5 is my go to. It's super accurate & I regularly shoot squirrels off my deer feeder @ 50 yards.
I mounted a cheapo PA red dot with a 3x magnifier behind it and have had zero issues hitting whatever I need to hit at distance. Because we live in the country and raise poultry I'm constantly using it to thin out feral cats and other varmints/predators. It's basically my tractor gun. If I'm on the tractor so is the 22 mag.
I use Hornady 45 grain Critical Defense ammo and it absolutely smokes whatever it hits. I once shot a fox at about 60 yards that was sitting down facing me. I put one right through it's chest and it just flopped over.
I hope your 22lr is just as accurate. If it is, you won't be disappointed.
Thank you !!!
