Good write up! It's always going to be situational. I can carry a decent fighting load with a chest rig and I like that I can easily integrate belt kit with it. Also, they integrate with a larger pack using a waste belt pretty darn good. They also work well, as mentioned, when working in/out of a vehicle. Now, for field patrolling I much prefer the "load-bearing" kit, such the PLCE (I use JayJay's), LBE, Smersh, etc. A great system for 24-72 hour patrols with a small assault pack. Well done Jay!

Chest rigs are for quickies. If you're going to live out of your rig LBE ( I'm am old guy that likes my ALICE) is the logical and choice.
