It was a good time for sure. Something I didn’t consider that night was how the extreme weather can condense movement and increase the likelihood of contact. We noticed just how brutal the wind and cold was just 10ft of elevation and bit less vegetation. While we always try to stay off the crest and in vegetation; everyone will in those conditions. Don’t expect a potential adversary to stay in the easy terrain
Great point on that! Those types of conditions (like we had Saturday night) would be just the ones that a well practiced OPFOR would want to take advantage of.
I know we kept pointing out to each other avenues of travel, spots for observation, natural lines of drift, and staying below certain rises to stay out of site. I think your comment about what a possible adversary would use needs to be kept in mind. Think like our adversary so that you can better plan to combat what they would be doing.
Also, fishnet longjohns are incredible for stuff like this. Brynje makes good ones. Either a windproof liner, or windpants under your pants also help, in conjunction with the windshirt. UF Pro has an optional zip-in liner, if you have their pants.
